Rifle Scopes Balfor scope w/ Bausch and Lomb mount?

A guy at work just inherited an old Winchester model 70 with this crazy looking scope and mount.

What can you guys tell me about it? Is is worth saving?

Been awhile since i've seen one of those.Cool thing is all the adjustment is in the mount.So you could have more than one gun with the same mounts and swap the scope back and forth without losing your zero. It's worth saving just for the it's old and cool factor. As for value wise you can still buy new old stock for pretty cheap from h.e. gibbs .

I'll admit I'm not too keen this old-school "quick disconnect" technology. I think I'm going to suggest that he replace both the scope and mounts with something more modern.

It is an interesting piece of history however. I wonder if Hathcock had one on his Winchester?

If it were me I would research the pair a little before separating them.
