Can somebody PLEASE tell me how to manipulate the elevation setting on my Ballistic AE app. I’m trying to find the difference in shooting conditions here in Tampa (~50’) compared to those in norther Carolina (~4000’).

Turn off pressure is absolute, then you can change altitude. You can turn on pressure is absolute again if you desire, the value remains.

What I am not sure is if the calculation does take into account altitude when pressure is absolute is enabled.

I switched to a Kestrel so I don't remember this setting.

Yeah turn off "pressure is absolute" if you are not using station pressure (versus corrected barometric pressure, which is what it currently reflects in the picture).

I just came from Nevada (to Tampa) where I had my rifle dialed in at about 5K' DA. My zero did not change but my transonic range did. Also, if you do not change your zero here in Tampa, you do not have to change your "zero atmosphere" in Ballistic AE. Only change/update your "current atmosphere".

What kind of increase in the transonic range did you see between the two locations. This all started when myself and a fellow shooter/reloader started talking about the differences he saw in his ballistic observations between Tampa and his house in North Carolina. It got me curious.

I didn't see an increase coming to FL as NV has a higher density altitude. My Ballistic calc showed my 105 gr RDF going transonic at 1665 yds (5700' DA) in NV whereas in FL, it shows it going transonic at 1500 yds (2100' DA). I am also showing a .4 mil difference at 1K yds.

That’s interesting. My bucket list includes taking a trip out to that area to do some shooting in the desert. Any places I should check out?

Most people shoot off the Sloan exit off I-15 South. I think there are some maps of the location if you Google it. Also, if you have access to Nellis AFB, they have a rifle range there and we put targets out to 1035 yds.

As an Army guy (OEF ‘07-‘08) I think they’d let me hit it but I’d have to look into ity. Thanks for the info. In Florida I’m restricted to 300m for the time being so that bucket list thing is gonna happen much sooner than later.
