I have a question regarding "Ballistic F.T.E" and the first generation i-Touch, which did not appear to be covered under the search function of this forum. I was recently given a first gen. i-touch by a friend who no longer had a use for it. I purchased the Ballistic F.T.E. application and my son attempted to install the app for me. He found that the program could not be installed, as it was intended, in it's present configuration, for a newer version of the i-touch. He was able to find an older 3. something, that would work with my i-touch, and installed that for me.

My question is this; what exactly will I be missing in the older configuration of Ballistic F.T.E.? Anything major? Should I just pony up and purchase a new i-Touch to use with the new program that I paid for? Or, are the upgrades not that essential to the functioning of the unit with regards to accuracy?

Thanks,

Jim

Re: Ballistic F.T.E. & 1st Gen. i-Touch....

I figured someone here would have had some ideas on this software, given the number of posts surrounding it's use among those here on the site. I e-mailed the developer and have not heard back from him yet. I'm sure he is a busy guy. Perhaps someone will see this and have the info I need. Maybe...

Thanks,

Jim

Check to make sure you have the latest version of iOS. You can also see this by going to setting and about.

iTunes states that you need iOS version 3.0 or later.

I just reread your question. The current version of FTE is 2.3.10, if the first gen Touch support os 3 you can use the new version. If it can't, I don't know what you're missing from the older version you have, but if you plan on using it a lot, I would suggest getting a new Touch since apple's software updates phase out old hardware.

Re: Ballistic F.T.E. & 1st Gen. i-Touch....

Iggy,

I appreciate your response, and I think I will just have to purchase a new device to take advantage of this software. One of my kids will probably be able to use the old device for a while, so it won't go to waste. I will use this version on the iTouch for a little while just to see how it performs, compared to the newest version, just to satisfy my curiosity.

Thanks again,

Jim

Re: Ballistic F.T.E. & 1st Gen. i-Touch....

Hey Jim,

I had the first Gen itouch too. For myself, I had to update the OS like Iggy said. The update change the Itouch to the same software as the Iphone pretty much, and then Ballistic F.T.E worked. That was a while ago now though.

Best of luck

Pete,

Were you able to have the O.S. in your 1st Gen iTouch changed over to the newer O.S? If that is an option, I will have to take a drive over to the Apple store.

Thanks,

Jim

Re: Ballistic F.T.E. & 1st Gen. i-Touch....

Jim,

All you need to do is plug it into iTunes and have it look for new updates. The update process is easy and straight forward. Can your son maybe check for an update?

Hey Jim.

As Iggy said above.

When you plug in your ipod and bring up itunes, go to the main page showing you ipod details, there should be a link to update the software to the current version on this page. They will charge you for it but it wont be much. So you can do it from home.
