So my PC died and I have a new Mac.

I have had for a long time and love my Window based FFS: Field Firing Solution.
But I need to get it up to speed* on my Mac now. I'm just learning about Mac, but best I can tell this will require the purchase of a full version of Windows XP to install on my Mac, which cost more than my copy of FFS AND the crappy old Pocket PC(pda) I bought to run it on COMBINED.

*the crappy old PDA I bought to run FFS on forgets everything it knows if the battery goes completely dead. So I had got in a habit of just doing a reinstall from the PC to the handheld when that happened as it did not take long at all. So of course at this time the handheld has amnesia and FFS needs to be reloaded. But hell I'm on a Mac now with no Windows OS capabilities at this time.

Do I buy a full version of Window's XP, load it on the mac and resume life as I knew it? Or do I stay with my new team- Mac and switch over to Ballistic Iphone application? A preliminary net search say's I can run iphone apps on my MacBook...
Then there's the cost of an Iphone- but really I need a new handheld anyways...(My contract is up with my cellular provider- I'm holding out to re-up the contract when the new windows phone is released this summer...)[or so i thought I was until this came about.]

Is the iphone program as thorough as FFS?

Damn, this really is an old dog/ new trick situation.

I have asked SEVERAL questions here. Any answers to any of them would be very appreciated!

This would not be a complex situation at all if I was a wealthy man. However I have to make do with hay bailing twine, bubble gum & duct tape in my every endeavor. I'm working on a very low budget, always have, always wi...hope not!

Thanks guys,
Tres

Gotta think outside the box.

Lots of ways to sync a Windows Mobile PDA with a Mac.

Sync a WM PDA with a Mac

But, seriously, a PDA which loses programs when the battery goes is hardly worth keeping.

If you really like FFS, one option is to get an HP iPAQ 111 Classic, and get Blaine to send you an upgrade copy of the program on an SD card.

If I was in your shoes, though, and needed a new phone anyway, I'd probably just get the phone and run an app on it, depending on whether it was an Iphone or an Android. Good programs are available for both.

Thanks Lindy!
I know my handheld is crap. But too often of late I find myself buying gas with pocket change. On those terms- I'm thankful to have a crappy handheld. ; )
But someday my ship will come in!!! I'll look into the link you provided and associted info. Thanks again!

Mechanic-
pm'd ya back. Much thanks.

I'm settled on keeping & running FFS. I just can't think of parting with it.

Anybody else?

Thanks everyone. I'm greatful.
