ive done this to a few round by just simply biting and pulling the tip out with my teeth. i was wondering if the lack of a tip would cause the huge hallow point of the .17hmr to simply pass through with less expansion or would it have the effect of making the bullet expand more rapidly. would there be any effect acuracy or velocity. thanks

Re: ballistic tip removal.

it might slow it down some, making it hit lower, im pretty sure the point of the plastic tip is for better air flow, but i may be wrong, i dont think it will make it expand any faster or slower though

my daughter did this in her Savage 17M2, but she used her pocketknife. They blow up fairly well on impact. also weren't near as accurate as unmodified rounds.
