Anyone using Ballistics FTE and ISnipe on their iphone? I find both programs very useful but cannot undeerstand why there is usually a huge difference in wind readings and sometimes in altitude also. any suggestions as to why that is happening. I have noticed thet the wind readings with Ballistcs FTE are almost always 5-6 miles and hour ghigher then I-snipe. I would apprecite your comments if anyone else has noticed that as well

thanks in advance
AJ

Re: Ballistics calculator difference in Weather readig

Are you referring to when you pull in the weather readings from online with it ? or when you use the manual user input ?

Re: Ballistics calculator difference in Weather readig

My advice is never use the online input for anything. The environment where you are may be very different, and many online weather sites, like the National Weather Service, are only updated about once per hour.

If you want accurate inputs for the program, provide them yourself.

To me this would seem to be a issue of where both programs pull there info from. If you go to the iphone setting, then go to ballistic settings and under there it has settings of two different servers where the program gets the info from. So from what I can tell its what gives the different numbers.

Since I have a Touch instead of an iPhone, I've never been able to use that feature in the field. But I wonder if the weather reports are from the nearest weather station. In my case, that's nearly worthless since there is a significant difference in altitude and terrain. At this time of year, the temperature alone - because of inversion - can be 10-20F colder down at the airport.

True and this is why I dont trust the online weather feature at all.
