I have a little bit of loyalty to arfcom as that is where I learned to build an AR from parts 20 years ago.

General Discussion is pretty twisted most of the time so I try to stay in the technical forums.

When I was looking for a place to learn about AR-15s many moons ago, I lurked on arfcom for a while, and learned that is not where I want to be. What a screwed up place. I ended up on ar15armory.com. There are some awesome people over there, and are much fore friendly and helpful.

M4c is still around and there are still some tidbits of good info, but the SOLGW fanbois have taken over.

What does SOLGW stand for (sincere question)?

M4C had potential, but honestly plagued by the owner from the beginning. That and some of the OG admins were just awful human beings if you ever interacted with them.

Did they fuck the Colt fanbois to death in an argument over the chart in the sandbox? There was good info there, but it quickly became a giant echo chamber of self-masturbation.

And yeah..the owner. King Fanboi himself... Still on the waiting list Grant, guess my money isn't tacticool enough to purchase from him.

Lots of these forums just start to echo and echo and echo. I like trying new shit, and I don't care who made it.

The flip side of that...is that there are a lot of guns that I'll just say "thats never going anywhere from my collection" and those tend to be pretty high end stuff because they do pretty high end things.

SOLGW is a sponsor there. Supposedly they make an excellent product but they use Ballistic Advantage barrels which have been hit and miss in my experience. I'm not here to bash, just stating that M4c always had higher standards until they pulled some shenanigans that put the sponsors ahead of users that were providing good content.

Gotcha, thanks. I agree there were some great nuggets of wisdom cultivated in the early years.

M4 of 10-12 years ago was pretty good. A lot of knowledgeable people and some of the best SME's (like LAV) would post and comment occasionally. But you get the assholes that have to show their ass and drive the good people out. And there you are.

There were some good people, like Todd Green RIP, who were driven out by the staff.

I still like some of the SMEs that are on there but they've also lost a few good ones.
