Gunsmithing Barnard Model P bolt mod 308 to magnum

I have a model P Barnard action with a standard 308 size bolt face.
My caliber choice is 7MM RSAUM; it is a hammer!
We rebated the case heads to match the bolt face.
Kind of a pain in the A$$
A replacement bolt is almost $500 - rip off!
Thinking of having my gunsmith open the bolt face up for the Magnum rim.
The only question is the extractor. Will it still work?

Anyone done this?
Or have pics of standard and magnum bolt faces for comparison.

You're being penny wise and pound foolish if you ask me. Buy the bolt, and you'll have two in case you want to go back to a .308 case.

I've thought about it for a long time. If money were no object I'd just buy a new action. But I have other projects and this one needs to happen quick.
