i'm developing loads for a .308 win using the barnes Tipped TSX 180 gn. i was wondering if anyone has also loaded this bullet cuz i want to know if you also have found that with any amount of powder you use it turns out to be a compressed load.

thanks josh

OP,
At 1.480", the 180gr. TTSX bullet is even longer than the M2-AP bullet pictured so make sure you have enough twist to stabilize it especially if using a suppressor. Barnes lists 1x11 or faster on the box. I worked up the 180gr. TTSX in 30-06 over IMR4350 only because other powders such as H4350 were not yet available locally. And with that ultra long bullet, it was a definite crunch load. But the bullet quickly proved itself sub-MOA accurate at 100yds. during the initial work up in a suppressed 24" 1x10 Krieger SS barrel. The Barnes TSX/TTSX data for 180gr. 308 Win. would be a very good place for you to start. And Barnes told me that the 180gr. TTSX expanded reliably down to 1800FPS in their water-shot expansion testing which they said indicates it should expand at slightly lower velocity on flesh & bone. HTH.

L-R: M25,180gr TTSX, M2-AP, recovered 200gr. Nos. Part. game shot
