When you guys buy replacement barrels, how many do you buy in a single purchase?

I’ve heard of guys buying 3/4 bartleins at a clip, but that was for Win Mag.

For barrel burners I buy the reamer and 3-4 barrels at a shot. I have all the chambers cut and test fitted to the action and then store the others. Brownells sells a plastic sleeve with de humidified packs in them. Oil them up seal them and toss in a safe or the closet. Over kill I know, But I shoot a lot of 7mm RM and currently eyeing a 6mm project. Contoured blanks are $300 or less when ordered in multiples and all to the same spec from Lother Walter. I've got barrels from everyone, like them all the same. None have ever shown any real difference in my experience. Except for the Lother Walther on barrel life. They just last longer. Harder Crome Molly and Stainless Steel. Thats the reason most Gunsmiths won't chamber a Lother Walter blank. It wears their reamer out to fast, or so they say. Thats why I just buy my own.
Buy in bulk, own your own reamer. Hire a machinist not a gunsmith to chamber. Just my thoughts. Hope this helps.

I just order a new one when I my current one is broke in but I don’t shoot a barrel burner. This is my first time ordering a gain twist from Bartlein so wondering if it will take any longer
If ordering chambered, turned barrels, then in the safe (humidity controlled). If blanks, leave them in their original shipping tubes, or at least their wrappings, and store horizontally supported for as long as needed. Blanks typically ship coated in a rust inhibitor, so the less handling you do, the better.
i buy and have my smith chamber 4 at a time...as of late 2 6BR and 2 6BRX...i live in nevada so not a lot of humidity here...yesterday was 13%. so i dont worry about them but if i lived in a high humidity area id wipe them down with 5 weight synthetic oil and put them back in the original sleeves and boxes and put them in the safe.
I think that depends on how much it will get shot and how often. I just buy one at a time because they last me a couple years and who knows what Ill want to do then.
I don’t shoot a barrel out very fast, so only one at a time for me. I’m on my way to shooting out a 6 in less than a year right now. That’ll be as fast as I’ve toasted one.
I'll buy blanks when I find a good deal, or when I know that I will need a new barrel coming up. I usually have them drop shipped directly to my smith to cut/chamber. I prefer to source my own barrel for my smith rather than waiting for them to source or being stuck with what spec/countour they have on hand. Helps keep lead times shorter.
Last fall I bought two 6mm blanks when Brunos was having a sale, had them shipped to my smith and cut two different match barrels. I recently found a good deal on a 224 blank that was the exact spec I wanted so I ordered that and am having another trainer barrel cut, even though I don't really need one. It will just get oiled and put in the safe until I need to spin it on. Also have an outstanding order with Bartlien for another 6mm barrel from a free barrel cert. Probably won't be done until October then will drop ship to my smith, in time to chamber up for next year.
I prefer to have actual ready-to-go barrels rather than a blank sitting in the safe.

Yeah, I'll be doing maybe one national PRS event and a handful of regional events. I doubt I'd burn more than a barrel a year even with practice added on that.
