Barrel Break-in Procedure from German Salazar

Re: Barrel Break-in Procedure from German Salazar

For sure, the only thing you gain with a quality barrel is getting to "know" it.
I bet it's been quite some time since he has used anything fitted to a factory rifle which is where you may gain something from "run in".

OTOH, MOST of the benchresters do it but what do they know about accuracy?

CK and AUJohn,

I've seen the link on Gale's thoughts. I check German's blog every now and then and found the post extremely funny after all the break-in posts we see. It was meant in humor.

I refreshed my page a couple times, assuming that my comp wasnt loading something on the page.

only to realize it was at the bottem.

Re: Barrel Break-in Procedure from German Salazar

For sure, it was funny but there is enough BS floating around on the subject and so many guys don't think. Just follow the current fashion and jump on others who have half a clue

" I'm not speaking of factory barrels, just the usual Highpower match barrels: Krieger, Bartlein, Hart, etc."

So that one "funny" page is going to be used by many to support something he differentiates between

I agree with every statement he made. Break in is poor use of a barrel.

Re: Barrel Break-in Procedure from German Salazar

Barrel break in is a fucking waste of time, money, and barrel life. But if it tickles your fancy, by all means go for it.

I haven't done it for my out of the box Tikka, and Remy 700, to AIAWs (all 3 of them) to GAP custom rifle. They all shoot subMOA.

Try to break in your 375 CT, or 408 CT barrel. It probably costs about 1K to break in the barrel with all the ammo.

I did the same.
