I like using Montana Xtreme Copper Killer 50 BMG Solvent, a nylon brush, a jag, and several dry patches.
Here is what I have found best, paying primary attention to the throat area. I omit the Copper Cream, and find it to be unnecessary.

After that I clean every 100 rds, or outing, whichever comes first. Then I store with a small amount of Montana Xtreme Bore Conditioner. Then, one cotton patch through the barrel before the next firing, and I'm good to go.

+1 for DCR ... I have a 6.5x47 Lapua with a Rock Creek SS 5R barrel and the break in on it was 119 consecutive shots. I clean at intervals of 300-400 shots.

lol...my grampa always had a warning he'd say to me about pissing in the wind...or was it on electric fences...? Maybe it was on his leg....? I forgot! Either way, What I gathered from those time tested words of wisdom is basically all things "PISS" = BAAAAD!

The short of it is most barrels, less they're a custom barrel or a factory one that was lapped will need a break-in procedure. How that's done is of significant debate.
basically a few rounds then clean then a few more rounds and clean....do this until it's very easy to clean. After that shoot unit accuracy goes to crap.
I've had barrels that only needed 5 rounds and I've had them that took better than 100 rounds before the barrel settled down.
don't make it a chore...go shoot and just have the cleaning you do while you BS with other shooters.
