Had one of my TL3 barrels (26” m24 contour 6.5creed) roll off my bench today. Took a hard hit on the action threads (did have rubber cap on) and another on the muzzle (had thread protector on). Visible damage is minimal thanks to the rubber protector and thread protector. No issues with the muzzle but the action threads has one spot that is ever so slightly scuffed. I can get pics tomorrow but it’s on the first/second threads and are only slightly rough to the touch. I guess it hit hard enough to cut through the plastic cover on the corner. Other than the action threads would I have to be worried about anything else possibly? I’m going to see if it still threads on my action tomorrow and if so I’ll check accuracy.

That big of a contour it would take a lot more than a fall from a bench to bend anything. Just chase the threads, and everything should be good IMO. DO NOT try to install it till you chase the threads.

X2, no big deal. Never dropped a barrel in my life...?

If you don't have the correct thread file, use a fine triangular metal file- 60 degree angle matches the threadform.

Only concern is any raised section(s)- just blue up the area and lightly file as needed.

Dont feel bad. My 308 barrel rolled off a chest freezer and bounced a few times end for end on a concrete floor. luckily I had a thread protector on both ends. It was amazing how many times it bounced.

The one I hear about most is someone picking up a barrel in a box/cardboard tube, and the downhill end is open.

The majority of my work bench space has cheap carpet floor mats covering the surface. Things don’t roll away (within reason...) and springs, pins, etc have a better chance of staying close by.
