Gunsmithing Barrel Fluting Question

Does the barrel have to be removed from the reciever to flute it?If it does have to be removed,how much extra is that going to cost?I'm thinking of having my Winchester Stealth fluted.Thanks

Because I want to.I think it looks good.I'm really not trying to lose any weight but that is going to be a plus.

It can be done without removing the action from the barrel. Depends on the set up your smith has.

For me it is easier to remove the barrel for fluting = costs less than leaving barrel on.
