Barrel heat mirage

I usually put a towel over the barrel when it heats up on my range day, this seems to take the mirage away in the scope. Does anyone else here do something similar? Do they make equipment to cover the barrel to remove that mirage? I understand its over heating the barrel a bit but this barrel shoots great even when smoking hot.

I don't mind it on my <21x scopes, but on 32x it does suck. Especially short range br. Sinclair's sells a mirage band in two lengths, they are nothing more then a blind shade slat without the holes. They trim up easy with shears and use velcro to hold them on. I have them on a 21" 6 br and a 28" 6 br. They make a huge difference at 32-40x and do not effect accuracy.

Thanks for the threads and info gents, I was actually thinking of wrapping the barrel with exhaust pipe cloth tape, how to the velcro dots hold up to the heat on these ?

Just fine, the problem with wrapping the barrel is it will hold heat in.

1/2" tygon tubing from just in front of the scope back to my mouth. Exhaling when going to the bottom of the breathing cycle gives 3-5 seconds of shoot time.
