BARREL LENGTH - CONFUSED

I'm new so please be brutally honest!!!!!!!

Barrel length 20"-24"-26" based on a .308SA

Seems to me that with a shorter barrel, u wouldn't be able to really reach out and touch a target as effectively as a longer barrel would.

Would the flight path be more accurate in a longer barrel due to the fact that the bullet has more time to reach its optimal spin rate?

Take this for instance, shorter barrel would increase recoil, thus compromising connsecutive shot placement.

I may be a dork, but some things i just cant talk about with my friends.

its been covered at length in both semi and bolt. guys hit 1k with 18" regularly. welcome, but look thru the bolt and semi section for 10-20 pages back, 18-26 its all pretty good. some feel 18" has less vibration or harmonics and is stiffer. your good with anything in that range. 1/10, 1/11, 1/11.25ish even. mine is 1/10 like alot of them

Say i wanted to run 175GR black hills out of a 24" barrel, what would the correct twist rate be? 11.25"?
