Would like some thoughts on this:
I have a couple rifles that I was getting ready to take to the range last night, and because they are basically new i cleaned the bores and didn't lube afterward because I was planning to shoot today. My plans changed and won't make it out till next saturday, but can i leave the barrels dry or do i need to lubricate and run a dry patch through them before I leave next saturday?
One of the barrels is 416R stainless and the other is 4140 Steel. It's not that I'm lazy and don't wanna run the rod down the bores a few more times I'm just curious if I'm overthinking it and should just leave em be.

I’d put oil down the 4140 barrel at least. I’ve had a barrel ruined before, and it seems like every chromoly surface gets cosmetic rust instantly if it’s dry.

Stainless you can skip.

Run one wet patch then one dry.

Spray Hornady One Shot down them. Or soak a patch in it and push it through. Best rust preventative there is. Also a dry lube / cleaner. I use the shit on everything.
