My question is which barrel is better, a Broughton, or a Bartlein? They're both upper echelon barrels I was wondering if anyone had any input. Plus, what exactly does a muzzle brake do and do they increase accuracy?
Both are top quality barrels. the Broughton is button rifled the Bartlein is cut rifled.
Muzzle brakes decrease felt recoil, and muzzle rise if so designed. They alone do not increase accuracy. Your shooting technique may improve with the use of a brake which will aide in greater accuracy
Brakes also increase the perceived volume and concussion of the shot. Not a big deal until you're near a hard object that allows the shockwave to bounce back at you. Other guys on the line may not like them, either. As for the barrels, get whichever one your smith has in stock or that you can get sooner.
