Looking to build a gun have bought the action and scope and was looking at Broughton and like there barrels but I called them and they said it could be upto 3 months to get it. Is this typical? What other barrels would guys recommend? It's going to be a 308 Cal and 600-1000 yds target shooting. Thanks for anyone's help not sure I want to wait 3 months...

Not sure what the wait time is, but its worth it. </div></div>

From Bartlein's website:

"Due to our current workload, we cannot accurately quote lead times. Lead times could be as long as 8 months to one year. We will gladly take your order and ship your barrel as soon as it is finished."

Schneider is all I use for my 6mm. They rock.

Yes I talked with Frank at Bartlein's and he said about 6 months. But he put me in touch with a vendor that buys that barrels and they might have some on hand. So I'm checking with them but am open to your guys opinions thanks for the quick feedback that's great!!!! I like this place more everyday and I've only been a member about a week lol...

Re: Barrel Recommendations?

I would buy another Broughton in a second. I had one in 308 that was stupid accurate. And Tim with Broughton was awesome to deal with. I now have a Krieger, and before that a Bartlien. All 3 are kick ass barrels if installed right.

Re: Barrel Recommendations?

I have used many different barrels over the years. I have had some really good ones and some that were ok but never really did it for me. I have never had a bad one from Lilja or Krieger. I have heard stories of those that have. Once you get your new tube whatever you get if you like it order a new one to have as a ready to go option. If you are not totally happy with it order one from a different company. Then once it is done put the new one on. This is what I do with my two most shot rifles. The rest I can tell they are starting to go and can order a new one and have it by the time it is done. If not the hold time is very short by then. I have had a rifle down for a full year because I thought I will just order one up when it is done. Imagine my surprise when they said it will be about 10 months.
