Barrel Replacment Suggestions

Hi Guys,

I have a Savage BA110 .338 Lapua Magnum. I want to replace the barrel. Are there any manufacturer's that make barrels
specifically for this make/model? One that can be for the most part "dropped in" after tweaking/chambering etc?

Yeah, thanks varmint slayer. But I was looking for those who have first hand experience with pre-fit barrels for my rifle.

Shilen, Mcgowen, Criterion, and Pac Nor all work very well. I would prefer a Shilen but all of them will treat you well. I say Shilen only because they are the only ones I have had any actual experience with.

Thanks for the info Varmint Slayer. What length barrel did you go with for the Shilen? I just checked Shilen's sight. They only offer a 26" barrel
which I currently have now. I'm looking for something longer. Like a 30".

Well oddly enough a friend of mine replaced the barrel on his 110BA like you are doing and I think it was 26-28" if I remember right.

I recently built a 260 on a Savage action with a Criterion barrel and have been very impressed. It will shoot right with both my bartlein and my Rock Creek barrels. I dont know if they make a pre-fit in 338 Lapua though. I'm sure Shilen or Pac Nor can hook you up if they dont.

Pac-Nor will make you whatever barrel length and contour you want in a prefit. I keep going back to them as all the barrels I have bought from them have been shooters. It will be about a 12 to 14 week wait with most of the barrel makers, as I doubt most will have 30" 338 large shank barrels in stock ready to ship.
