I have a savage 12LRP that started out as a .260 Rem and was rechambered for 6.5x47 Lapua.

I purchased this barreled action in the for sale forum.

Purchased a XLR chassis and found out that the barrel is not centered in the action. XLR thinks that when it was rechambered it was not threaded straight.

How much affect can this have on the accuracy?

If the barrel mounts to the receiver with the chamber not concentric and centered to the receiver the bolt will push the round off to one side of the chamber when closed.
The effect in accuracy depends on dimension stack up and clearance but it will not HELP accuracy.

Thinking a receiver is crooked vs knowing is a wide open discussion.

It can be a number of things affecting how the gun appears when assembled. Chassis stocks are intended as a "bolt n go" setup. Quite often though there's small fitment adjustments that need to be addressed.

Examples:

Timney 511 trigger in a AICS/M700 combination requires work in the trigger well.

Recoil lugs always seem to need attention as they are often too thick, tall, wide for the stock in original form.

Point being it'd be worth your time to have someone experienced in this stuff to look before the action gets blamed. -especially with a savage because the triggers are quite "busy" when compared to m700 designs.

It could be that the chassis isn't straight either, but its prolly not likely.

Good luck
