I have a Rem 700 XCR tac long range in .308 that Im looking to rebarrel soon. This rifle is just a range gun that I shoot to 300 yards (as far as my range goes). I want to shoot longer but I currently don't have a place to do so.

This will be my first rebarrel so I don't have much experience in which brands to go with but Im interested in Benchmark but am completely open to suggestions. As for twists Im wanting to get a 5r with a 1 and 11.25 and 26 inches. And contours I know nothing about. I just know I want something a little bigger than the Remington varmint contour. Im not concerned about weight. Its really is just a rifle I take to the range. So any suggestions with contours or brands? Any help is nice.

I'm a big fan of the M24/M40 contour for tactical, f-class and benchrest.
If you want heavier, go with the MTU.
Here's Bartlein's contours: http://www.bartleinbarrels.com/contours.htm

There are all kinds of options and manufactures...you're on the right track with asking here though.

I use the rifle pictured in my signature to shoot 600yrd F-Class and longer precision tactical matches - have no problem reaching 800yrds
When I rebarrel it though, it will be a Bartlein 30cal, M24/M40 contour, 1:11.25 twist, stainless, 5R, 23", fluted.

My .308 had a Bartlein M40 contour 1:11.25 twist finished at 20" and it was a hammer...a heavy hammer. My current rifle has a Bartlein M40 contour (notice a trend?) in 6.5 Creedmoor and will be 24" long. Bartlein makes damn good barrels and you won't be disappointed if you choose one. Good luck with your choice.

If you dont mind a little extra weight, you might go for the Bartlein HV #9, w/o the scope she weighs 13.5lbs, or so says Chads scale.

Mine was a "tight" bore, or .299" which can give you a bit more MV. This helps if you cut the barrel shorter and are trying to squeeze as much velocity as you can out of your ammo.
