Today I've mounted my Barrett BORS on S&B 5-25x56.. at present on HS precision HTR, waiting the Accuracy in .338 for the end of october.
All configuration was easy following manual instructions, thursday I'll try to zero personal load and check some load in the database.
The mount are very good, quality like Badger or superior.. 65 lbs/inches for mount screws and 35 lbs/inches for rings screws.
I've left ACI anl bubble level to check initially how the Barrett works.. in 2 picture you can see the cant indicator versus bubble level.
All the system looks very solid.
Next 17th long range shooting with Pinco Palla... to check how the BORS works in different enviroment..

Re: Barrett BORS mounted on HS Precision HTR..

BORS and the Schmidt and Bender look good together. Does the AI you're waiting for have a tapered rail?

...and one quick off topic question, ONESHOT?

Re: Barrett BORS mounted on HS Precision HTR..

The barrett scope mounts have a 30 MOA cant..... a guy in the Barrett forum wrote this messagge, I order my AI with a flat base

cheers..

The S&B 5-25x56 PM II .1MRAD(.344MOA) adjustment is rated at 93MOA of total elevation adjustment. The BORS Kit(PN 66000-3SYS) for this scope currently comes with a set of 30MOA tapered rings. These rings are only available in the kit and can not be purchased as a stand alone item. The 30MOA taper in the rings make them ideal for flat railed rifles. If you have a tapered rail, and the sum of the taper in rail and rings is over 45MOA (aprroximately half of the total in the scope), you will most likely have to use a longer zero range.

A realistic maximum range for this scope with BORS on a rifle with a flat rail (98B is a flat rail) is in the 1,800-1,900yd range using the data posted above by flyjets for the 300gr Matchking, and using center reticle as POA=POI from a 100yd zero. ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

Re: Barrett BORS mounted on HS Precision HTR..

I was aware of the 30minute rings, but the rifle in those pics seems to have a canted base. That's the reason why I asked.

Will the .338 arrive in time for your next shoot?

Re: Barrett BORS mounted on HS Precision HTR..

It seems.... but is a 0 MOA cant.... ( I hope .. this is what I bought ).....

Before the S&B was mounted on a 30 MOA base... but for the .308 caliber was too much... never use the second turn..

the scope was bought for the AI and I've used it on the HTR to make some practice...

Now I'll do the same thingh with the BORS, as soon as I'm confindent I'll put everything on AI.....
my next shoot ( long range ) will be the next 17th... I'll use the HTR..
Probably for barrel brake inn in the AI I'll use iron sight...

cheers..

Lower 34mm Barrett rings will be available early next year, too. Should help you bring the height down considerably.

Re: Barrett BORS mounted on HS Precision HTR..

I've put the BORS on my AWSM .338 LM, it's a good tool, but you can do the same thing with a ballistic table or a software in a PDA.

It need to be mounted correctly and you have to put correct data on it, muzzle velocity, ballistic coefficient and scope height.

The best thing about it is that another person is able to take my rifle and shoot with accuracy, and that person can be totally ignorant about ballistic table ecc ecc...... only basic skill, must be able to read the number and to dial with turret... and to pull the trigger.

I've used it till 1300 meters starting from 100 m ( my zero ) always on target.
