I just got a29” on the recent sale. I have wanted one for many years and will never be able to justify it except for cool factor. I plan on building it for a semi automatic, long range rifle and am well aware of the accuracy limitations. I have a bolt action 50 BMG, which is very accurate and very unpleasant to shoot.

Just getting started on the build and hear my solutions to problems I’ve encountered so far:

1. Storage and transportation.
Eberlestock drag bag in the longest version. The pelican case it comes with it is great and disassembly and assembly is easy. I just want something that makes it as low effort as possible. For the mag storage, I’m either going to get Chase tactical cheapo, mag pouches, or tactical tailors and mount them on the inside Molai panels. For the suppressor pouch, Armageddon gear.

2. Cheek rest.
I’m just gonna duct tape some closed cell foam on it after I mount the scope. I think it’ll look fairly clean as you can disassemble it put the tape over the edges and then reassemble it.

3. Bipod.
The stock by pod is not far enough forward and doesn’t offer much in terms of adjustment. Also, it looks like something made out of a Russian factory in the 1950s. I understand it is titanium, but it looks like shit.
Putting an MDT cye pod heavy duty with an area 419 Arca Picatinny clamp. For the pic rail, I got a B and T, which is the only option that I’m aware of. I also bought the Barrett by bipod mount from the Barrett website.

4. Replacement for the A2 grip.
I got a fab defense grip which folds. I’ve used this bit on some other guns and it’s fairly comfortable. Saves a ton of space in storage.

5. Scope.
I have a vortex razor 25X for now. Spuhr mount with a Picatinny diving board. Resin in the scope mount. The diving board is for a red dot or possibly a rangefinder.

6. Suppressor.
KGM 50. My research shows that it gives us similar recoil impulse to the muzzle brake. It also does not have a muzzle brake on the end, which is something I wanted. The concussion is a factor that is hard to quantify but I don’t like it.

I wish they made an Arcalock or the really right stuff locking system rail for It.

There are a lot of things I don’t like about it, but it’s the only game in town. The first is the obviously huge margins that barrett makes on these guns while refusing to make meaningful updates like Mlok. The length of pull is possibly the right size for somebody who is 6 foot five but will not work ideally for the rest of us. Trigger sucks and there are no aftermarket options.

It is a nice gun and very well fought out. I don’t even think they could cut much weight from it. All in all I am pumped on this bad boy and will keep you guys posted as I put it together.

The biggest non gunsmith and noticeable improvement in accuracy for my 107 was using 750 Amax match ammo.
