Hi Guys,

I am new to the forum. I own several 308's my SCAR 17s being my favorite with a 1.5-6x Specter DR on it. I am fairly good with it and hit 12" targets at 800-1000 yards with it. I use to own a Barrett M82-A1 but was forced to part with it during a Divorce. Several months ago I ordered up an MRAD with the 27" Barrell and Barrett decided to flute in house, purchased their own hammer forge equipment and discovered that they could only accomodate 26.5" in length. So while their sight claims 27" the actual barell is only 26.5" in length. The gun was recently delivered. I have an atlas bipod with quick release and a magpul MOE+ grip that I ordered in tan only to realize that the color is so far off from the Barretts bronze color that I need a black one to make it look right.

The question comes to reticles. I know I want a Nightforce NSX 8-32x56 but I am torn between the NPR-1 and MOAR reticle. So I am looking for some input on what you Nightforce guys are using and shooting with. I am hoping to start using the MRAD to shoot between 1200 and 1500 yards or more. I have a range close by that will get me to 1500 on a slight decline.

Thanks in advance for your input.

My recommendation is MLR2 with .1 mil turrets. It doesnt sound like you are already heavily using an MOA system, so I recommend a mil setup as I find it to be an easier system to learn. Plus, if you later upgrade your scope, it is much easier to find a scope at the upper level in mils. Most Schmidt and Benders are mil/mil, and I believe all Hensoldts and upper end Khales are as well.

I have a 24" MRAD and absolutely love it. You'll be amazed at the light recoil. Can't comment on Nightforce. I have used the March F 3-24 42mm and 5-40 56mm scopes on mine. FFP and mil/mil. Whatever you get, go out and start having fun. You'll find the ammo hard to come by now and more expensive than 50 cal. I hope you reload. Good Shooting

Thanks. I purchased a few hundred rounds prior to the panic. But not nearly enough. I need to buy some reloading equipment. Unfortunately too much month at the end of the money.
