Bartlein barrel question

I'm looking at some Bartlein barrels and noticed the contours on their sporters has a big gap. It goes from a #2 and .600 at the muzzle to a #3 and .670 at the muzzle. Where as most manufacturer's contours are #3 and .630. Is that a mistake?

Also, has anyone noticed a difference with the T-rifleing/gain twist?

I have both a 5R and 5R gain twist. Honestly I don't see any difference, but I have to admit: The Bartlien barrels perform better than I do. If there is any benefit to be had I think you would have to be an execptional marksman to be able to recieve any benefit from the gain twist.

When the "normal" barrel shoots 1/2 MOA or better, it get's really hard to tell if there is any difference when shooter error is greater than what the barrels are capable of.

The contour page is for reference only for the most part. We've done Rem. mag. sporter contours, winchester varmints both pre64 and post64 style etc....etc.... and we've done what I would call #2.5 contours etc....

Please note we have a min. neck size we will do in s.s. barrels. Keep that in mind.

The gain twist from what we've been seeing will never hurt you when it comes to accuracy. We have had quit a few reports about guys being able to run a hotter load with the gain twist.

I feel the biggest performance gain with the gain twist is with shooting lead bullets and that's where it started with us. Guys shooting Schutzen fest type guns with lead bullets asked us to do them first.

Frank,
Thanks for answering me. My computer was not set up to do an email by clicking your website link and I did not see the actual email address.
I was looking to buy one of your barrels on Grizzly and it was stated as a #3 contour but it is to thick for what I want. I was going for a 7 rem mag on a Sako 75 finnlight. I like the idea of a gain twist for it, and that it was in stock. I was hoping it was supposed to have been a .630 at the muzzle and a misprint. It looks like I will just have to wait.

The email address to work is: [email protected]

Grizzly won't have any gain twists in stock. The #3 contour they have is a .670 muzzle. I would need to know the dimensions off of your finnlight to say if we can duplicate it exactly if that's what your looking for.

Talk to you later, Frank
