Base .308 Rifles

looking at a short barrel Truck/ hunting rifle.
so far the choices are
Ruger American for a as is setup.

Savage Hog Hunter, may want to change to a diffrent stock or a chassis system?

Remington 783, switch barrel like a Savage?, What trigger fits?, what is the inlet like? is this the same as the 700? as far as aftermarket stocks, bottom metal, or chassis?
if this matches then Remington may have a winner for the home gun-parts changer/

Love my hog hunter. Stock is alittle flimsy but holds up in the woods fine. You may want to get a Hogue stock if your alittle rough on your rifles while hunting.

Lots of stock options for the Hog Hunter, and it includes iron sights. Good combination. Ruger American is probably good too. I'd say far, far, far away from the Remington 783 junk. I'd find a used or fall hunting special 700 long before I'd go with the junkified 78x models.

the point is is there a match to the inlet of the 700 to the 783? how close is it to the same , I don't have access to the rifle to measure the diffrences? that is what I am askin what is the diffrence between teh 783 and the 700?
