I'm putting together my first long range build. Caliber is a 6.5cm. I'm looking at the vortex razor.
My question is do I need a 20 moa base? I have not shot past 400 yards so far but have access to
land where basically the sky is the limit as far as distance is concerned. Thanks. Input on ring would also
be appreciated. Barrel will be a shilen varmint profile.

It depends on the amount of time you spend at each range. For your setup a 20 moa base will be less about being able to shoot longer range, and more about spending as much time as possible as close to the optical center as possible.

Need? No but they are usually the same price as a flat 0 MOA base so why not get a 20 MOA base? Won't hurt anything.

As for rings the Seekins 35mm or Vortex by Seekins will be a good choice.

Thanks all for the replies. Minor typo in the original post, I was wondering about ring height since I don't have all my parts yet.
I see there is only .05'' difference in height between the medium and next size up, should get the 1'' or the .95''? I'm guessing it
must make some difference since they sell both sizes.

For what its worth, some bases are higher than others. For instance my ken farrell bases are quite a bit higher than my egw base. I could run the lowest rings available and still have plenty of height... it feels a good .2" higher.

Generally you can get by with .75-.85 unless you have an unusually low base and/or 56mm optical. .95 would be safe in my opinion.
