i have a remmington 700 milspec 308,i bought a used 8x32x56 benchrest scope.im gonna buy a nightforce 20 moa base plate and 1.125 nightforce rings.I dont shoot really no more then a couple hundred yards or so.ya think thats to much base for this gun?i might shoot longer ranges if i get that base plate.what im asking is can i still shoot 100 yrds at targets?being this is a used scope i wonder where he had it set at,i hate to shoot at 40 yrds or so and find out i have to turn the knobs 90 times just to get me on paper at 100.then what am i gonna have left for clicks for a later use?those nightforce base plates have no windage or anything to take up the yardage so you can keep your clicks,or have them turned all the way this way or that?am i makeing sence?lol.i dont want to run out of clicks getting this set for 100 yrds cause its a 20 moa base plate.thank you.

Re: base plate and used scope and rings

The 20 MOA base should be fine. I had no problem getting my M700 sighted in at 100 meters with the same setup. Plus then it gives more room for upward adjustment and shooting at longer ranges in the future.
