BASIC SNIPER/OBSERVER
TEAM OPERATIONS COURSE
COURSE: Basic Sniper/Observer Team Operations (BSOTO-C)
(12-18 April 2010. Course will be held at the SOTT-I LLC Midwest Training
Center, Cape Girardeau Missouri and hosted by the Chester Illinois Police
Department)
PURPOSE: To teach selected personnel the skills necessary to enable them to
operate as members of a Sniper/Observer Team (SOT) in order to support tactical
operations within an urban and rural environment. The training will include but not
be limited to;
• Introduction to SOT operations
• SOT equipment
• SOT tactics-techniques-procedures
• Tactical precision marksmanship
• Field-craft
• Reporting procedures
• Sketching and drawing
• SOT/Assaulter integrated operations
PRE-REQUISITES: Member of an operational law enforcement, military or
corrections special operations team or like unit with a requirement for skills training
in Sniper/Observer Team Operations.
SPECIAL INFORMATION: The Basic Sniper/Observer Team Operations Course
(BSOTO-C) is performance oriented training conducted in a high risk environment.
To successfully complete the course a student must be in TOP physical and mental
condition, progress through increasingly difficult training requirements and achieve a
minimum 80% academic average. The course is made up of four critical area tests
totaling 400 points with an additional 100 point instructor evaluation for a total of
500 points possible. The BSOTO-C has numerous live fire exercises, classroom
lectures/conferences and graded, must complete blocks of instruction.
CLASS SIZE/TUITION: The course is limited to 16 personnel and will fill quickly
(two-3 person teams). Tuition is $650.00 per student.

Reporting Instructions/ Driving Directions to the Midwest Training Center:
All students will report NLT 0730 the morning of the course start.
Directions: From I-55 take the Fruitland Exit (#105) and head north on Highway 61.
Travel north on Highway 61 until you reach Highway 177. Travel east on Highway
177 until you reach Route V. Travel south on Route V until you come to the
intersection of Route V and Route Y. Make a left and cross a bridge traveling east on
Route V through Oriole, Missouri. Keep traveling east on Route V past Oriole
approximately 1 mile, and you will start up a large hill. At the top of the hill there
are two county roads directly across from one another (note the Midwest Training
Center Sign with direction arrows). Turn right / south onto County Road 612 and
travel approximately 0.7 miles. You will see a sign (SOTT-I LLC Midwest Training
Center) and the large tan building.
