Does anyone know about this rifle? It was built for H&K by Springfeild armory (Ginesco ILL). My dad bought it at Rays gun shop in Pennshauken NJ back in the late 80s. It has 24" heavy target barrel (308). The bolt handle is screwed to the bolt. No bottom metal, just trigger gaurd. The stock is dark woodland camo Mcmillen. They set the action lower in the stock for some reason. It is a 700 rem action. The barreled action is blued

In a somewhat unusual move for Heckler and Koch, USA, they marketed a bolt action rifle made by a small company in Florida owned by a man named James Hare. A sales leaflet from 1986 touts the BASR as 'state of the art.' The leaflet is reproduced below, and shows James Hare firing the rifle.

The brochure states that the BASR had a matte black Kevlar stock, that it was drilled and tapped for the # 35 Weaver mount, a custom action that guaranteed 1/2 minute of angle accuracy and different variations of light, medium or heavy rifles that were made to order, presumably. It came from the factory with a 4 lb. adjustable trigger. It lists the calibers as above, and probably was intended to be made to offer in the caliber of the buyer's choice. Only five production models were ever made, and all went to a police agency in Colorado. They were all chambered in .308 caliber. The BASR, a small story in the overall scheme of things, but worth telling, nonetheless!</div></div>

1. Set up an account with photobucket.com or some other picture hosting service.

2. upload pics from your computer to the photobucket account.

3. copy the pictures "IMG" code, then paste that text in your post. when you post, the pic should be up.
The IMG code looks like this (but without the asterisks)
