BATFE Official Announcement on Franklin Armory Reformation

I like Franklin as a company. they used to be local here in CA but the ever infringing laws made it impossible and so they moved just over the state line. now they innovate new firearms using the letter of those laws. in an almost perpetual nose thumbing.

Do you really think any of these people are going to show up at your range with handcuffs and arrest you on some arbitrary technicality?
Most likely not, but it wouldn't surprise me to see Reformation-associated violations tacked on top of other stuff, like a burned out tail light, etc...

The long and short of it is that I have ZERO confidence in the government doing the right thing because it's the right thing to do... what I DO have confidence in, however, is the government acting in its own best interest to justify agency budgets, etc...

I've had to deal with the ATF a couple of times over pretty arbitrary shit that didn't center around myself, but let me tell you the only saving grace they offer is the inane ability to fuck up absolutely anything. Seriously, I'd rather call a crackhead and that's not a fucking joke. I have no doubt that the only thing keeping them from doing shit like that is basic fucking ineptitude.

Reactions: BurnOut and Bender
One night at the sheriffs department, we had a highway patrolman bring in this lady he “arrested” but the thing is he didn’t have any citation or paperwork on her, he brought her in under the suspicion of being drunk (tested sober) then said she was under arrest for probation violations, ok we said, where is the hold order for her “violations” because we sure as shit didn’t have one... we were going to let her go, but he got all butthurt and he called his captain at 3:00am to whine like a bitch, so that captain called our captain at 3:00 am and then he called us to see what the fuck was going on, we were about to release her when “magically” this poor lady’s Probation Officer called with some made up after the fact rule about curfew. That then meant we had to hold her. We lost. The lady lost. She got booked.

Never underestimate the power the government has when they want to fuck you.

Maybe. Or maybe they lay siege on your home for 51 days and end the standoff by burning down the place. Or maybe you get a peaceful visit some afternoon, with a polite request to turn over the hardware. Or maybe your particular instance completely falls through the cracks. Kinda hard to say when it comes to the ATF. Let's face it - the whole ATF is only something like 5,000 agents, not all of whom work on firearms stuff. The only way that few people can keep ~100 million gun owners in check is through fear and intimidation.

Meanwhile, I admire the creativity of the Franklin Armory guys - really, I do. But this sort of outcome was 100% foreseeable. Hell, I'm sure they saw it coming and maybe it's part of some master plan to either get dumb laws reformed (unlikely to happen) or to embarrass the ATF (more likely, but less productive).
