Re: BC's for .22LR
I appreciate the good information presented here, and do not mean to hi-jack the threads’ stated topic of B.C.’s; however the mention of the RA4 drag function really has me curious…
I use a simple spreadsheet based ballistics calculator, it uses a G1 drag model. I have printed out tables with it and have field data to validate my computed data. (centerfire).
For rimfire shooting I have not shot past 200 meters with any serious record keeping, all of my field data is at 50 through 200 yards. (It is not extensive). I do not shoot the most accurate/precise rifle, but feel it is in the range of acceptable. I occasionally shoot higher end ammo, such as Eley or Wolf.
My question is how much difference is there in the RA4 and G1? At what distances and wind conditions do the differences become apparent? At the distances I shoot, with my limited ability to read wind, my G1 based spreadsheet doesn’t seem to be too bad…
I will read-up on the links provided so far (thanks) but was interested in S.H. shooters observations and comments.
