Hi everyone,

I want to re-barrel my r700 with a Krieger. I also want to have them bead blast the barrel for a matte gray finish.I have a muzzle brake that I want to have installed on the barrel which is stainless steel and does not yet have the satin bead blasted look, its smooth.

My question is, if I wanted my brake to match the barrel do I have to have Krieger install the brake and bead blast both at the same time and if I do, will my local gunsmith have trouble installing the barrel onto my action since it will need timing? The brake has left/right ports. Is it really difficult to thread a brand new barrel that already has a timed brake on it?
I guess the other option is to have them blast both separately and have my local smith install it afterwards..Anyone with experience with this or with Krieger specifically?

I would order the barrel from Krieger and let your gunsmith do all the work and install the brake too. The brake will be easier installed after the chamber is cut and the high side of the barrel is clocked up to the action if your smith chambers that way. If you let krieger blast the barrel and brake, it will probably get scratched up during the chamber work that your smith does. Better to do the blasting as the last operation.

I see, thank you both for your input. I think I will order the barrel from Krieger and have my local gunsmith do everything from there.
