On a AR-15 platform has anyone here ever had, or witnessed a catastrophic disassembly due to head space(on a ar)?

i have purchased headspaced bolt when buying barrels for years..but i always wonder if other people do the same or just say fuck it and use a tried bolt

Re: beating a dead horse (headspace)

I've shot mag length loaded hornady 75s at 2950fps, as well as their SPM 556 in a gun that had excessive headspace. The hand loads would pop primers if I used uncrimped primers (had to buy, primed brass that had crimped in primers to not pop them). I've shot stuff that popped crimped primers. Nothing happens.

I've known of 2 catastrophic AR failures; one was a 243WSSM & cause is unknown. The other was a 308 & it was determined to likely be from a squib.

*if you want to talk to me about being unsafe, save it for someone who cares.

never noticed anything like that, I have 9 AR's and sometimes switch bolt and carriers around without ill effect.
quit worrying and go shoot.
