I am looking into getting a scope for my rifle but would like your input on what I should get. I will be putting it onto a 308 AR platform, and would need it for distances up to 600yds but also need it for cq drills. From what I have been looking at I really like the Mark 4 1.5-5x20mm MR/T with the illuminated SPR reticle. With that being said my budget is about $600 and with all of the bad reviews Ive been reading about leopold, I was wandering what you would recommend I get? I dont want cheapy throw it away but I obviously cant buy a Nightforce Or US optics.

Thanks For your time and help

Re: Beating a dead horse....

titus7 - I know this is outside your budget but I've just gone for a Nightforce 2.5-10x24 Compact and will use it through an 18" 223 AR platform out to 600yd. It seems ideally suited both in size, weight and mag for the AR to me.

I know that this is now a discontinued scope but maybe look through the For Sale board and see what you can find?

I'm a strong believer in "buy once, cry once". Maybe check out Euro Optics to see what deals Alex is doing on the 2.5-10x32?

Re: Beating a dead horse....

I'm not an "operator" or a competitor, so take this for what it's worth. Both of my Ar10's have Burris Fullfield II Tacticals on them. I have been beating the shit out of my Burris Fullfield II scopes, and they are taking it. You can likely do better for 600.00, just telling you what works for me. I have one on my para FAL, using the ballistic plex retical, smack 16"x20" steel with regularity out to 700. They all have ballistic plex. I tried two higher grade Burris scopes, and both had problems, Signature and Black Diamond series, and Burris was a colossal pain in the ass to deal with. They finally fixed the optics, but only after each scope had been sent back 3 or four times. that was 8 or 9 years ago.
I'm still up cuz the dogs heard something skulking around in the yard, Saiga 12 at the ready.

Re: Beating a dead horse....

I find shooting 600 with the same scope that you are using for CQT difficult. If you are shooting 600 and you don't care about groups because you are shooting man sized target then you can get away with what you are thinking about but on 4 power at 600 seeing a man is easy but seeing a round circular target to shoot holes in is not as easy. You can go with the Leupold MK4 2.5 x 8 MK4 would work at both ends: something like this:

I use one on my DPMS 308 AP4 and I use it for hunting at ranges from 50 yards to 300 yards and find it works well at both the low and high magnification settings.

Alright sorry to bring this back to life but just one last question before I purchase. Anyone have experience with these?
