Ok. Rebuilt the Mauser based stick and got a nice steel Oberndorf bottom metal to replace the milsurp that was original. The problem is that it leaves a gap between the metal and the inlet. I'm rebedding the action and don't know if I should be afraid to shoot it with that gap around the BM. Also, the stock is a Richards Microfit laminate thats very similar to a McM A3. The issue is the bedding around the BM will show. I use Devcon steel to bed the action as it won't show under the action, but I'm thinking about coating the rifle in FDE or OD and that grey/black around the BM will stick out like a whore in church. Is there a product thats hard as Devcon, but will blend better with the wood? Acraglass maybe? A hard cure wood putty would be awesome, but I don't know of any. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
