i am waiting for the go ahead to send my action into a smith to be rebarelled with a heavy palma barrel. my current barrel is a sporter taper. i know that the bedding dose not come in contact with the barrel but would it be better to wait to do my bedding job until i put the new barrel on and reamed out the barrel grove for the larger barrel?

Re: beding the action and switching barrels.

I would bed it with the barrel installed. Less chance of screwing up a bedding job while opening the barrel channel and you can make sure everything looks right before adding glue.
