I currently have a sentry quick access safe, but the door is SOOOOO slow to open, that I'm sure if someone broke in, they'd have already shot me dead before I had a pistol in my hands. It's not the electronics - it's the hydraulic arms that just don't push enough to force it open quickly.

Looking for suggestions for a replacement. I don't need biometric - I'm fine with a code entry or something like that. I just need it to fit a 1911 and open fairly quickly.

I have a Liberty HDX -250 biometric on top of my dresser, it is 7" tall by 11" wide by 12" deep. I would recommend the Liberty biometric because it is fast and has a very fast opening door. From the time you put your finger on the touch pad until the door is open is 1.2 seconds. Before I bought the Liberty I did a lot of research and the Liberty brand was the most highly recommended, and I would agree. Have had mine for about a year now and am very happy with it. Spend the extra money for the biometric. I found mine used on ebay for $125, I believe retail on them is $200
