I read through the section on case prep, and it was very helpful. Could I get some equipment recommendations? What are the best tools for case preparation. Everything I do I do %100, and I don't want to buy new equipment in a couple months after I find out there is a better way. Is the hornady case prep machine any good? Any other recommendations? Thanks

Re: Beginner reloader help

While you're reading, get yourself a copy of Lyman's Centerfire Handloading Manual #49. It has more usable data than any 2 or 3 others. And they aren't trying to sell you powder or bullets. They list several makers of each.

Re: Beginner reloader help

As for equipment some recommendations, press Redding t-7 or a Coax, dies Redding sTyle, trimmer Wilson or Giraud. As for the Hornandy trimmer
i have one but can't reconmend it because i've used it but once in the
whole year do to space limitations on my bench.
The Rcbs Trim Mate Prep Center I also recommend.

Over on 6mmbr they have a equipment review section which is really good.
Hope this helps

Re: Beginner reloader help

The one tool that I will recommend is the Giraud case trimmer. You will not regret this one piece of equipment. My 3 yr old has trimmed cases for me to prove how easy it is, and very fast.

Re: Beginner reloader help

For case prep, the #1 investment would be a Giraud. Worth every penny to not hand crank on a manual trimmer. 2nd would be the RCBS case mate. Nice little tool that does many things.

Re: Beginner reloader help

For years I said RCBS RockChucker was the only way to go. But a close friend of mine bought a Redding Big Boss 2 a few months back. I have to say that the very high standard of quality machining shocked me. If I had to buy another new press right now, that's what I would go with.

Should have said that, too. They work great.

Re: Beginner reloader help

Giraud trimmer with shell holder and cutter for cartridge you load for.

Sinclair Gen2 flash hole deburr tool

Sinclair primer pocket uniformer

Don't get the handles for them use them in your Dewalt

As far as Presses go I only recommend the Forster Co-Ax

RSBS hand primer tool

Imperial Sizing Wax

There is an assload more but those flat out work the best in my experience.

Re: Beginner reloader help

Thanks for the help. I already have the redding t7 turret press. I ordered some of the recommended equipment today. I will be mainly working with hornady match brass and some lapua palma brass. Any tips or things to watch out for when using the hornady match brass?
