Hey- I have a B&C Medalist (Rem 700 LA) stock with 2 questions:

1. There's a rattle inside the rear. I assume it has to do with the rear sling mount. What's the best way to remove the recoil pad to take a look inside? It looks glued on.

2. I am upgrading to a M24 profile barrel. Stocky's site says it can be modified for this barrel- but how? Dremel/Grinding away material?

Thanks for reading!

The recoil pad on mine is screwed on. Look for slits cut top and bottom. To open up the barrel channel, I have used sandpaper wrapped around a dowel of the correct size. Just be careful to keep it centered, its very easy to drift to one side.

The recoil pad on mine (Medalist Varmint/Tactical) was screwed and glued on. I contacted B&C about removing it and they suggested putting in the freezer for a few hours first. Since it wouldn't fit in my freezer, and I was doing some work to the stock anyway, I used a sharp knife to peel it off. It worked but wasn't as clean of a separation as I'd hoped.

If I remember correctly, I think the lady at B&C said it was some sort of Loctite. I don't think she meant thread locker though. I got their number off of their website and she was very polite and helpful.

There were tiny slits in my recoil pad that were only visible when I compressed or stretched the pad in some fashion. Once I found them it was easy to remove the screws.

Those slits are tiny I got the recoil pad off and there was a screw inside that had nothing to do with the rest of the stock.

...and now the stock is up for sale because I got a deal on a Chassis :)

in answer to #2 I put sand paper on a large dowel and sanded the area that required
removing material. go slow and keep checking with a dollar bill for complete free float,
couple sprits of high temp paint and torque it down. looks good and shoots great.
mine was a 5R profile.

I have a question. I want to shorten the length of pull on my B&C and wanted to know if someone could post a pic of the stock once the pad was removed. I was thinking of removing the pad cutting the stock and reattaching the pad. Wanted to see what it look like underneath to see if this was possible. Thanks.
