Any punishment that leaves a mark (bruise) is considered "abuse" in most states. A belt will generally do that. Child abuse can also be parlayed into "domestic violence" which will get your guns confiscated for life. All it would take is someone (kid, skrool nurse, teacher, babysitter etc.) to see it and your life would be in the crapper.

Bulls*&t, my own ass can testify that a belt can be used w/o leaving bruises. The state statues might define bruise as a abuse. But unless you are drug addict psycho unemployed felon the courts prefer for the child to remain at home.
May I suggest that there are probably better sources of child rearing advice than Snipers Hide?

Elimination of modern technology/conveniences goes a LONG damn way to getting the point across. No more: cell phone, computer/Internet, TV, Xbox/PS3/Wii/etc., use of the house phone for anything but 911 calls if someone is bleeding to death or having a massive coronary, car (if they are of driving age), etc.
They might prefer a good a$$ whooping to the loss of their ties to the outside world after a day or two (actually...mere hours seem to cause panic/extreme frustration/annoyance).

And this is exactly why this country is going down the tubes, all these lazy ass kids taking over that never got some sense knocked into them, if my mom had just beat some sense into me a couple times maybe I wouldn't be stuck in this BS job. She should have forced my punk ass into the military so they could knock some sense into me.

Other states have some screwball rules. However, as I often tell people that call the police regarding their misbehaving children, "Here in Texas, corporal punishment is allowed and I encourage it. In fact, if you're worried, I'll stand right here mam while you bust little Johnny's fannie".

May I suggest that you don't have a clue what happens in the real world. There are several emergency room doctors here that can probably tell you horror stories about abuse to kids. I can tell you reverse horror stories about families (AD military mind you) that were raked over the coals, careers destroyed and later "oops we were wrong" by social services.
Case and point, in the not too distant past Mom took daughter to their PC MD one afternoon because she was complaining of pain "down there" and her back hurt. The Medical Assistant saw horizontal bruises across the girls back during the exam. She called social services. At 1630 as Petty Officer Cletus is getting ready to go home from work, two of the Navy's Finest show up with a guy from NCIS and a local Sheriffs Deputy. Short version, after several hours of interrogation (questioning) Petty Officer Cletus (Daddy) is hauled off to jail for child abuse. EIGHT days later (Daddy is still in jail, little girl is in protective custody, Mom is having her third nervous breakdown) Social Services finally shows up after a parade of police cars stops by the house (military housing outside the wire) on day one and two. Come to find out the kid had been using a big bungie cord to launch herself (and all her friends) off a dock into the local watering hole which was GREEN with algae. SS says "Oh, I guess that does make sense." and walks out. Dad gets out of jail at 1600 the NEXT day. No charges no "Sorry", no letter to the Command, nada. I think that poor bastard is still trying to get his life straight.
A belt may not leave a mark on your hide but you better be shaking in your boots if something does and you don't have an alibi.

It was a very confusing event, many mixed emotions. Having 5 strippers all over you is great, but when 4 of them are holding you down while the 5th whoops your ass, savagely, it aint too fun anymore.

shiiiiittttt, i got my ass busted a few times by my dad and granddad! my grandfather was the worst, he had an old leather belt that his dad hit him with as a kid. and he would wet it then wipe off the excess water, then he would pop the belt to scare the shit out you then tear your ass up lol. I learned my lessons though
and I still have that belt for use on my kids some day

I am sick and tried off all this child abuse shit there is a line that can't be crossed but it seems as if a parent can't even discipline their child anymore
Also my parents would take my door off, wash my mouth with soap, or my grand mother had an old wooden paddle she would pop you in the ass with.
I am all for teaching your kids a lesson and disciplining them.
