Never owned a belted magnum, but thinking of getting a 300WM, does the barrels's chamber support up to & stops at the belt of the round, or does the chamber actually supports the whole belt also?

The belt but obviously not the rim and extractor grove, which is never supported
as they are both in the primer pocket surround.
