Re: benelli m4 question

James,

Check out the Benelli USA forum for more 922r compliance info, parts lists, etc. That horse has been beaten to death and then beaten while dead for a LOOOOOOONNNNNGGGG time over there. Whatever you do, be wary taking advice from some of the "crazies" along the lines of "oh who gives a $@HT???!!! 922r compliance is never enforced...is a secondary offense...nobody cares if your foreign-made shotgun isn't compliant with that 'stupid' law, etc."

The short answer is that by adding any "evil" feature to the gun (like an extended mag or collapsible stock), you go from being permitted 13 foreign parts to only 10 foreign parts and you have to get your US parts count UP and foreign parts count DOWN to comply with the law.

Well you aren't looking very hard, because when I researched the same issue over there, you had to replace 3 parts total if you wanted an aftermarket mag tube. Granted, this was based off people's ATF ruling letters and those only apply to the addressee. Most opt to change the stock or fore end (what I did).

If you're serious, send an email to your local ATF agent for a ruling.
