Bergara BMP rail screw size?

I've done some searching and couldn't find the answer. Apologies if this has been covered before.

I'm looking to order a scope rail for the Bergara BMP I just ordered and just can't wait till Monday to call Bergara.

Does the BMP use the #6 or #8 screws?

The Area 419 rails come with both the #6 and #8 screws... I have the 20MOA rail on my BMP and am very satisfied.

I saw these after ordering the Leupold Backcountry base. I may have to upgrade if the Leupold doesn't fit well. Although, I ordered the Leupold based on many reviews stating how well it fit on 700 actions. Area 419 is located in my hometown so I'll need to buy something from them won't I? Perhaps the Hellfire Muzzlebrake.

I have the badger ordnance 306-06A on mine came with everything I needed. Can’t remember what the torque specs were but that’s a quick phone call to badger. I do remember they recommend coating the bottom of the rail with blue thread locker prior to install. A dab of the blue on the threads prior to adding torque value. Doing this I’ve never had a problem. At 176 round down my barrel since getting it and making 5 shot 1/2 moa groups.

Basically yes. Here are the instructions straight from badger they say to use green or red but the tech I spoke to said blue is fine. Remember to degrease your surfaces and threads prior to applying thread locker.

The thread locker I used is Permatex blue gel and it worked well and kept the mess down a bit. Also found my package my rail came in and it says 15 in-lbs for the mounting screw torque value (note the 15-18 in the instructions) so I went with the stated 15.

Basically yes.

Basically no, the thread locker isn't there in lieu of a bedding compound it's there to prevent moisture from wicking up under the rail and causing corrosion.

You are correct. I believe that is explained in the instructions as well.

Gotcha. I've bedded the rail with JB Weld. Perhaps I should go back with some Loctite. Damn I don't wnat to reattach/level my scope again though lol.

Might do more harm than good getting that stuff off.. I don’t know, never tried to remove JB weld from anything I applied it to.

To be honest I don’t know everything and this “bedding” of the rail with stuff like JB weld is a new concept to me- this thread is actually my first time hearing of it.

If someone has some sort of article I could reference to learn about it that would be great, I could use a good read.
