Just trying to see what anyone has been doing with these bullets out of a 6.5 Creedmoor as far as jump?

My initial velocity testing load was all done at 0.020 jump. 2.250 CBTO using Peterson Brass /w CCI450 primers. Used the "10 round load development" method (actually 30 rounds, 3 groups of 10 rounds to make sure I was consistent... pretty happy since all were similar results).

I found a good velocity node at around 42.5 gr of H4350 (ES 6 SD 2) that I'm going to play with.

Maybe try Berger's method of reloading for bullet jumping.

Tips? Thanks.

I'm running the 144 in a 6.5 creed also.
144
CCI br4
Lapua Brass
H4350 with 42.2 gr
2822 fps ES 7-13
.030 jump
26" impact barrel
I did a small seating test .020 to .050 off with no big change in group size or ES.

What length barrel are you running? Why did you choose to not run 42.5? 42.3 to 42.7 looks like a fat node to me?

Oops. Realized it was a typo on the original post. Yep, using 42.5. thanks for the info!

Check out this thread:

For comparison, I'm shooting a .260 Rem, and I'm also at 42.5 H4350 in Lapua brass with a CCI BR2. I am loaded quite long at 2.960" which is 0.040" off the lands. 26" Bartlein plus a TBAC 30P-1. I'm sitting at 2800 fps average with ES 17 and SD 5.3 for 10 shots. Those first 6 shots were ES 7 and SD 2.9. I just had a quick and slow one after the first 6.

The 144 doesn't mind a seating depth difference in the realm that we typically seat bullets.

NiteQwill,

Thanks for the info. This was timely since I just started loading my first Berger 144gr myself.

What kind of COAL do you get when seating these 0.020 off the lands? Do you hand-feed them?

Why does it have to be jammed or jumped ? why not size it to fit just right ? is there no middle ground in that process .

lol

I will have to look at my log when I get home. But I do not hand feed them. They chamber just fine from AW magazines.

Not the 144’s, but a data point from the same family. The 109’s in 6mm shoot excellent with a 0.020” jump as well.

Hey everyone. Brand new to snipers hide. Was reading posts concerning 6.5 creedmoor and Berger’s 144 grain vld. Did my first seating depth test today and found most promise with a .1300 jump in my rpr. Also jam less .010. 41 grains H4350, cci br2. planning on ocw test next using those two different cartridge Lengths. I will post results then.

was looking at using the long range hybrid on my ibi 6.5 creedmoor. they say to load at 2.80 coal. how did you guys find a seating depth? if i seat mine they wont fit into my mags?

I bought binderless MDT mags and they work great. Allows for 2.95 COAL. I run mine somewhere around 2.92 I think, which is .015 jump
