I've been using the OTM for a while and couldn't get a hold of any lately and I ran out. What I could get was the 185 VLD. The OTM I loaded to 2.8 COAL and it was fine. Is there anybody out there that uses the 185 VLD in 308 win that jumps from mag length? If so, How far are you jumping to your lands?

To kiss my lands is 2.995" and going by the instructions from Berger the final step should be 2.865 (0.130 off the lands) but in order to fit into my mag the length would be 2.835 (0.160 off the lands). Do any of you think it matters? I don't want to spend the whole box chasing a load.

The help is much appreciated.

I run both the the Juggernaught Target and Juggernaught OTM @ 2.885 COAL which is .010" off.

I also mag feed them both through my Savage.
On the factory Savage 10rd DBM mag (Accurate Mag), I removed the blinder plate from the front of the mag
and spot welded the top hole shut where the plate was, if you don't the bullet tip will hang up.
This allowed me to gain the extra cartridge length, over 3.030" IIRC.
I also purchased 2-5 rounders directly from Accurate Mag without
the blinder plate.

See HERE

I've never jumped the Bergers that much, but some folks have with success.
I found a load/COAL my rifle likes, and went looking for a solution to mag feed them.

I am using an sps tac. All that I'm alloted goes into shooting, gas and range fees rather than building up the rifle. I'm saving up for a chassis but stock is what I have to work with for now.

I tried to take out the box from the floor plate and it didn't work too well. Do you have an idea to increase space?

The OTM has been very jump tolerant without any issues.

Sorry,

I'm not familiar with the SPS mag, so I do not have any suggestions.

If the OTM's are working at MAX mag length, I wouldn't worry about
how far from the lands you are.

If your rifle/bullet combo didn't like it, they would let you know.
