I'm sure this might have already been posted on but has anyone tried the Berger 185s in the Savage 12 FTR? Conventional wisdom says 1-12 twist is only good up to 175s but who here is conventional. Plus the box says 1-12.

I have shot 208s out of my 12 twist all the way to 1000 with no problem
I dont shoot a savage. But with my rifle when i was shooting them i was getting 2680 with a 28 inch barrel. I have since moved on to a different bullet
Recently I started testing B185LRBTs in this 12 F/TR barrel with a long-ish throat (~2800rds). Jumping 12-15 thou puts plenty of bearing surface down in the neck - but not so much that it extends down below the case neck/shoulder junction. Loads look pretty promising in the 42-43gn range... second round of an OCW test @ 300yds showed < 1" vertical for each increment (0.2gn) over that range. 42.8gn had all three rounds touching... chrono shows an average of 2650fps at that level. Subsequent visits to the range seem to indicate that its shooting pretty consistently and accurately, at least out to 300yds. I have high hopes for further testing at distance...
