Anyone try the berger 77 OTM tactical bullets in their AR type rifles? I got some the other day and loaded 7 rounds at 23.9 varget and the other at 24.2 varget in Lapua brass with Federal 205 primers.

Shot the 23.9 at 100 and it appeared to be a tight group so I figured I'd just shoot the other 7 at the same point of aim on the same target. Result was 14 rounds at around .57 ctc. Took them to 600 this morning and had around a 4.4" 5 shot group at 600 and at 800 a 4" group with the 24.2 grain load for 5 rounds. The 23.9's weren't much larger at 800 either. Easy sub MOA. I'm impressed with these bullets! I have 200 77 Scenars to try tomorrow then make my decision.

Rifle is MK12 MOD1 with Compass lake match chambered Krieger barrel.

I was just curious if anyone uses these as I've usually only read about the 77 SMK.

Yea I think I'm gonna just use them. I have a good 82 single feed load worked up but the 77's loaded to mag length seem to be hammers so far even at 800 yards in some wind too. I'll see how the Scenars compare tomorrow but I'm probable done with load work! :)

Alan, just want to confirm 2.25" COAL?

With the CLE chamber, I seem to get a little better groups at around 2.245 average- but yea, magazine length. I just loaded up some more at 24.2 and some Lapua Scenars 77 gr at 24.0 and 24.2. Going out at daylight tomorrow morning to test them again then pick the best one. So far, nothing is close to the Bergers....maybe it was just a fluke lol :)

Well I went out this morning and tried the 77 bergers vs. the 77 Lapua scenars. Bergers at 24.2 varget and Lapuas at 24.0 and 24.2 varget. Both loads shot really well but I think the Scenars may hold a slight edge.

At 500 yards, the Scenar loads held sub 2" vertical. I was shooting 6-7 round groups and they were Id say average 3.2" with a few smaller. I also shot my berger 82 single feed load into 2.5" for 6 rounds with 1.5" vertical.

To be honest, all loads shot well. I don't think one of them went over MOA-including a 7 round group of 70vld's at mag length. I think this rifle just shoots pretty well. I'll prob just shoot the scenars and lapuas a few more times and compare again. The berger 82 load is a hammer, but it's single feed
