New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
Used the 135 classic hunters on a couple cow elk out of my Creedmoor. Both behind the shoulder shots, and they worked well. Definitely not a "drop them in their tracks" type combination, but good blood and they didn't go more than about 30-40 yards.
Ran the 95s in my 243ai forming loads. Awesome performance at those speeds on whitetails. Dropped like a stone. Lots of blood and exit wound was massive.
168's out of a FNSPR .308 @2740 fps , 473 yards DRT !
Left shoulder entry neck exit ( up hill quartering away ) did not recover bullet as it was a pass through into a large boulder .
Big Time Berger Fan Boy. I kill 'everything' with Bergers, including steel. .243, 25-06, few 7MM's, .308, 30-06, 300WM's. Deer, Elk, Bear, Yote's, Bobcats all fall down. Have yet to have a failure or lost animal. Had bullets that aren't suppose to fail fail. If they made a fishing pole I'd buy one. Just like wapiti above had a pass thru just over 400 on a deer with a 168 outta one of my 7MM's at a lazy 2900 fps. Slightly quartering away. Right thru the brisket. Bottom of Heart was gone, lungs destroyed, and no lost meat. I don't break down shoulders with them. I either blow their heads off or lower their Blood Pressure. I don't like tracking or ruining meat.
